San Diego offers world-class beaches, hiking, museums, restaurants, theaters, nightlife, and culture. There is no shortage of ways to enjoy your time in San Diego while you are studying at MISD.

Getting Around
Living in San Diego is much easier if you have a car. However, if you don’t have that option, San Diego does have public transportation. Buses run throughout the city, and there are routes that have stops near the Institute. Please refer to the San Diego Metropolitan Transit Authority for up to date information.
Apartment complexes on Gilman Drive or Villa La Jolla Drive are walking distance from the training center. We do NOT recommend that you rely on walking as your means of transportation unless you happen to find housing in an apartment complex on one of these streets.

Good news for students enrolled in a summer training course: We can help you arrange housing! Not available in 2023
MISD offers student housing on the beautiful campus of the University of San Diego, which is a 10 mile drive from MISD. Space is limited, so please submit an application form (found below) to training@misdami.org as soon as possible if you would like to take advantage of this opportunity. Unfortunately, this option is NOT available for students attending a program that runs during the academic year.

Local Points of Interest—
There are two side-by-side shopping centers within walking distance of MISD:

- La Jolla Village Square includes a 24-hour Ralphs, Trader Joe’s, Starbucks, etc.
- The Shops at La Jolla Village offer CVS Pharmacy, Whole Foods Market, several banks, post office, etc.
The University of California at San Diego (UCSD) is five minutes away by car, and the beach is about twelve minutes away.
